About

Hi, I'm Jordo.

I've been playing acoustic guitar for a long, suspiciously long time. I write songs, I'm a dad, and I genuinely think the world is better when more people get to make even a tiny bit of music.

My deal

I'm not a strict conservatory teacher. I'm not going to slap a metronome at you and tell you you're playing "wrong." I'm the guy who sits cross-legged on the floor with a kid and says, "okay, cool, that mistake actually sounded kind of awesome — let's keep it." I will absolutely play silly chords on purpose to make a seven-year-old laugh. That's part of the lesson.

What I actually believe

  • • Mistakes are normal and honestly kind of charming.
  • • Confidence comes from playing real songs, not drills.
  • • Adults aren't "too late." That is a myth invented by Big Conservatory.
  • • Kids learn best when it feels like play, not homework.
  • • Practice should feel like a small treat, not a punishment.

Songwriting (eventually)

Once you've got a few chords under your fingers, we can start writing your own little songs. Even ridiculous ones. Especially ridiculous ones. The best way to learn music, in my opinion, is to make some that didn't exist yesterday.

A note for parents

I know how it feels to hand your kid over to a new adult for the first time. I'm a dad. Lessons are calm, kind, and patient. I do not yell. I do not shame. I will, however, occasionally pretend to be a confused robot if it helps explain a quarter note.
